Qualcomm Chief Accounting Officer Leaves for Adobe

John Murphy, SVP and Chief Accounting Officer (Principal Accounting Officer) of Qualcomm resigned to pursue other opportunities. George S. Davis, the company's EVP and CFO, will serve as the company's Principal Accounting Officer, in addition to his continued service as CFO (Principal Financial Officer). Davis previously served as both the company's Principal Financial Officer and Principal Accounting Officer upon joining the company in March 2013 until Murphy's hiring in September 2014.

Telstra CIO Leaves after Two Years in Role

After nearly two years in the role, Telstra CIO Patrick Eltridge has announced that he will be leaving the company to explore international opportunities. Telstra has begun a global search to replace outgoing CIO. Eltridge joined Telstra in 2010, after then-CIO John McInerney resigned from the role. Eltridge has also previously worked as CIO for business and consumer banking at Westpac, and CIO at Seek.

Microsoft Expands Board by Appointing Activist InvestorMason Morfit

Microsoft appoints Mason Morfit, president of ValueAct Capital, to the company's board. ValueAct Capital is a San Francisco-based investment firm with a $2 billion stake in Microsoft, which entered into a cooperation agreement to have Morfit join the board. Before joining ValueAct Capital in early 2001, Morfit worked in equity research for Credit Suisse First Boston. He is also a director of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International and a former director of Advanced Medical Optics, C. R. Bard, Immucor, MSD Performance and Solexa.

Monotype Imaging Appoints Director with Brand Expertise and Entrepreneurial PerspectiveGay Warren Gaddis

Monotype Imaging, the company specializing in typesetting and typeface design as well as text and imaging solutions, appoints Gay Warren Gaddis, founder and CEO of the advertising agency, T3 (The Think Tank), to its board. Gaddis founded T3 in 1989, and today the company is the largest independent advertising agency owned by a woman in the U.S. Gaddis began her career as a copywriter with The Richards Group. She then served as PR director for Baylor University Medical Center; Marketing Director for Leadership Dynamicsand later became a full partner at an Austin advertising agency, before founding T3.

GE Appoints China CTO for Global Research

GE announced that Xiangli Chen, 49, has been appointed VP, China Technology Center, Global Research. He also serves as VP and CTO of GE China. Xiangli has been with GE for 19 years, holding several technology leadership roles, including serving as general manager of the China Technology Center and general manager of global technology for GE Healthcare in China. 

Intel Names Current COO as CEO and Software and Services Head as President

Intel’s COO Brian Krzanich, 52, a company veteran of nearly 30 years, will assume the CEO role replacing Paul Otellini, who is retiring. Krzanich has progressed through a series of technical and leadership roles at Intel, most recently serving as the COO since January 2012. Prior to becoming COO, Krzanich held senior leadership positions within Intel's manufacturing organization. He was responsible for Fab/Sort Manufacturing from 2007-2011 and Assembly and Test from 2003 to 2007. From 2001 to 2003, he was responsible for the implementation of the 0.13-micron logic process technology across Intel's global factory network. From 1997 to 2001, Krzanich served as the Fab 17 plant manager, where he oversaw the integration of Digital Equipment Corporation's semiconductor manufacturing operations into Intel's manufacturing network. Prior to this role, Krzanich held plant and manufacturing manager roles at multiple Intel factories. Krzanich began his career at Intel in 1982 in New Mexico as a process engineer.

Intel elevated William M. Holt, 60, from SVP to EVP. He is general manager of the Technology and Manufacturing Group and jointly oversees all technology development and manufacturing activities across the company. Holt joined Intel in 1974, and was named a SVP in 2006.

Intel CEO to Retire Earlier than Expected; Successor Not Named Yet

Intel’s President and CEO Paul Otellini, 62, who has been on the job for eight years, will be retiring as an officer and director of the company in May, next year, with years to go before reaching the company's mandatory retirement age of 65. A successor has not been named yet. The company is going to consider both internal and external candidates in a transition expected to last six months.

eBay Director Resigns; Joins AOL Board

Dawn G. Lepore, 57, a director of eBay, has resigned from the company’s board. She has been newly elected to AOL’s board. Lepore is CEO at Prosper Marketplace, a peer-to-peer lending marketplace. Formerly, she was CEO and Chairman of drugstore.com, a leading online retailer of health, beauty, and wellness products, until its sale to Walgreens. Prior to that, she held leadership positions at The Charles Schwab Company, like Vice Chairman of technology, operations, administration, strategy and active trader, was CIO, a member of Schwab's executive committee and a trustee of SchwabFunds.
