Microsoft has appointed Ali Faramawy to the newly announced global role as the head of the Emerging Markets Digital Transformation Organization which has been established within Microsoft. He has headed the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region for thirteen years, most recently as President.

Microsoft Names LinkedIn’s Kevin Scott as CTO

Microsoft has named Kevin Scott to a newly created role of CTO for the company. This is an expansion of Scott's new role at LinkedIn as SVP of Infrastructure. Prior to his role as SVP of Engineering and Operations at LinkedIn, Scott held a number of engineering leadership roles at Google and AdMob. While pursuing a Ph.D. in computer science at the University of Virginia, Scott was an intern with Microsoft Research in 2001. Scott is an adviser to several Silicon Valley startups, an active angel investor and founder of the nonprofit organization Behind the Tech.

The Priceline Group Announces CEO ChangesGlenn Fogel

The Priceline Group reported that Glenn Fogel, the company's current Head of Strategy and Executive Vice President of Corporate Development, has been named CEO of the company. Current Interim CEO and non-Executive Chairman of the Board Jeff Boyd, who served as the company's CEO from 2002-2013, Chairman of the Board since 2013 and Interim CEO since April of 2016, will assume the role of Executive Chairman.

Jonathan Rubinstein, 58, a member of the Board of Directors of Qualcomm, is resigning from the Board in order to focus on his new role as co-CEO of Bridgewater Associates. He is former Head of the Global Business Unit at WebOS and SVP of Product Innovation for Personal Systems Group at HP.

Apple Appoints Former Boeing CFO to its Board

Apple appointed James Bell, Boeing's former CFO, to its board. Bell, who was Boeing's CFO from 2003 to 2012, is on the board of several other companies, including JPMorgan Chase and Dow Chemical. He also served as Boeing's interim CEO for several months in 2005 after the aircraft maker fired CEO Harry Stonecipher.

Google Appoints CEO of the Self-Driving Car Project; HR VP Leaves to Join SoftBank John Krafcik

Industry veteran John Krafcik will join Google as CEO of the Self-Driving Car Project as efforts intensify to get autonomous vehicles on the road. Krafcik is a well-respected executive and engineer, known for using data to drive decisions as well as experience in a broad range of fields including sales and marketing, product development, technology and manufacturing. Krafcik takes over the project as the team works to better understand public perception of self-driving cars and how they will use them in their everyday lives and commuting. Google is moving from equipping conventional cars for testing to designing and building its own fleet of driverless cars for evaluation. The internet company is making the prototypes in Livonia.
