Comcast Promotes Myrna Soto as New Global CISO
Comcast promoted Myrna Soto to SVP, Global CISO. Prior to this appointment, Soto served as SVP, Chief Infrastructure and Information Security Officer (CIISO) within Engineering & Platform Services for Comcast Cable. Soto, who joined Comcast in 2009, has more than 25 years of information security and technology leadership experience in a number of industries, including financial services, hospitality, insurance/risk management and gaming/entertainment.

Intel Veteran Plans to Leave
Sean Maloney, 56, an Intel EVP once seen as a potential candidate to lead the chip maker, plans to retire in January 2013. He suffered a stroke in 2010 that temporarily sidelined him from management roles. But he recovered sufficiently to assume the position of Chairman of Intel China and make public appearances in Asia, where he had long helped to build the company’s relationships with makers and buyers of personal computers. In 2009, Mr. Maloney was named general manager in charge of business operations of the Intel Architecture Group. Mr. Maloney, who is British, joined Intel 30 years ago and held a number of positions in the U.S. and abroad, including chief sales and marketing officer. He was a technical assistant to Andy Grove, then former Intel’s CEO, who helped define many of Intel’s policies and wrote books on management.
Seagate Appoints Leader for its Solid State Drive Business
Seagate Technology, the leader in hard disk drives and storage solutions, re-appointed Gary Gentry to lead its solid state drive (SSD) business as SVP, SSD. Mr. Gentry will have responsibility for driving Seagate leadership in the SSD space, with time-to-market, competitive product offerings. Mr. Gentry has over 25 years of experience in the storage industry, including most recently as the General Manager of the Enterprise SSD Division of Micron Corporation. Prior to rejoining Seagate, he held leadership positions focusing on solid-state technologies at Spansion Corporation and Storage Genetics. He also served as CMO for Maxtor, and provided strategic consulting to Hitachi Global Storage Systems. While at Seagate he held various management positions including VP, Strategic Marketing and Planning.
